Valencia Pipe Co. expects to begin production of ABS pipe at a new 60,000-square-foot facility in Kingman, Ariz., on Feb. 1.

The Valencia, Calif.-based company is building a manufacturing plant with 10 extrusion lines on a 13-acre site that has room for expanding capacity, according to a news release.

VPC will produce ABS pipe in diameters of 1½ inches to 6 inches for drain, waste and vent applications as well as underground medium density polyethylene gas pipe.

"With the recent consolidation in the ABS pipe market, we believe customers deserve another choice," VPC President Andrew Dervin said in a news release. "We're going to offer a high quality product, great customer service and a competitive price. We are very excited and can't wait to get started."

The Kingman location was selected for its proximity to customers.

"We are able to ship the same day into northern and southern California, Phoenix and Las Vegas and next day for our wider sales area," Dervin said.

Dervin started in the plastics industry in 1988 working in the shipping yard of a division of PMC Global called Plastics Services & Products. Dervin then got into sales and opened a factory in Oregon in 1993. The business started manufacturing ABS pipe in 2000.

VPC also sells MDPE pipe in half-inch to 2-inch diameters under the Home-Flex brand for appliance connections. The company says it exceeds industry standards.

In addition, VPC has introduced Home-Flex underground compression fittings into the wholesale and retail markets in the U.S. and Canada. VPC also manufactures corrugated steel tubing, PVC pipe and specialty products for those markets.
